(January 13, 2006) Christmas tree pickup
Pleasanton Garbage Service will collect green Christmas trees from its residential customers on Saturday, Jan. 14. Trees must be placed curbside the night before pickup and cut in four foot sections. All clean green trees will be recycled. No flocked trees. Stands, tinsel, ornaments and lights must be removed. If trees are cut into two-foot sections, they can be placed in regular green waste receptacles. Residents may also bring trees to the Transfer Station at 3110 Busch Road free of charge until Feb. 1-- proof of residency required. For more information, call Pleasanton Garbage Service at 846-2042.
Visitor Guide cover contest
The Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting a contest for the cover of its upcoming publication the Tri-Valley Visitor Guide. Artists are invited to submit original photography, illustration and/or paintings reflecting the Tri-Valley Region (Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon).
Submission must be in high-quality digital format (i.e. TIF, JPEG) or a color copy may be submitted for the selection process. If selected, the original must be made available to the Convention & Visitors Bureau for scanning purposes.
Preferred formats for selected finalists will be transparent media (4 x 5, 2.25 or 35mm slides) or a minimum of 300 DPI image that is at least 8.5 x 11 in size. Original art (i.e. paintings or photographic prints) can also be submitted.
Submit artwork, including artist contact information and a short bio, on or before Monday, Jan. 30 to:
