David M. Majors

A celebration of the life of David M. Majors will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1225 Hopyard Rd. Janis Harvey Armstrong

Janis Harvey Armstrong, a Pleasanton resident for 12 years, died Dec. 16 at the age of 45.

She was born June 6, 1960 in Santa Monica, Calif. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in public administration from Cal State Hayward and later worked as a consultant. She enjoyed horseback riding, team penning and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Mark Armstrong; brothers Steve, Pieter and Jeff Harvey; and one niece.

A celebration of her life will be held 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Claremont Resort, 41 Tunnel Rd., Berkeley. Call (510)843-3000. Rae Vargas

Rae Vargas, a Pleasanton resident for 57 years, died Dec. 21 at the age of 73.

She was born Sept. 22, 1932 in Oakland and later raised her family in Pleasanton. She spent the last 16 years of her life living in Murphys, Calif. She received her bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and was a high school teacher for 35 years.

She was a member of the National Forest Homeowners, Native Daughters of the Golden West and the Lake Alpine Improvement Association. She loved performing and visual arts. She enjoyed spending time at her family's cabin in the Sierras.

She is survived by her sons Eric Vargas of Pleasanton and Michael Vargas of Murphys; daughter Nancy Vargas of Pleasant Hill; mother Kathryn Hewitson of Murphys; brother Rusty Hewitson of Pleasanton; sisters Janet Smith of Valley Springs, Calif. and Pate Cates of Gazelle, Calif.; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Marvin Vargas and her father Louis Hewitson.

A vigil was held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary followed by a mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 510, Oakland 94604. Serena G. Delevati

Serena G. Delevati died Dec. 21 at the age of 65.

She was born July 22, 1940 in Martinez, Calif. where she was raised. She graduated from Alhambra High School. She was the owner of Den Daas Interiors and Serena G. Delevati Interiors, working as a commercial and private interior designer. She designed many commercial buildings in Livermore and many homes in the Tri-Valley. She won design awards at Dunsmuir and Alameda county fairs and was a guest designer on a local radio show. She loved cooking, flowers, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her companion of 30 years, Bill Ralph; daughters Debra Radford of Pleasanton and Jackie Upshaw-Lawson of Dublin; son Danny Upshaw of Dublin; and seven grandchildren.

A visitation was held at Callaghan Mortuary with a celebration of her life at Wente Winery. Isabella Camilla Medeiros

Isabella Camilla Medeiros, a lifelong Pleasanton resident, died Dec. 23 at the age of 88.

She was born into the Bernal/Higuera families, which were members of the original California DeAnaza Party, making her a sixth generation Californian and a fourth generation Pleasanton resident. She is remembered as a loving mother and housewife. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Dublin and Pleasanton senior clubs.

She is survived by her sons Leonard Medeiros and Elton Medeiros and his wife Marjorie of Livermore; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Medeiros; brothers Sam and Alfred Higuera; and sisters Marie Cintrone and Matilda Medeiros.

A visitation, rosary and funeral were held at St. Augustine Catholic Church followed with burial at St. Augustine's Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Dublin Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Ste. 100, Dublin 94568. Lucca Matteo Minnite

Lucca Matteo Minnite died Dec. 20.

He was born Dec. 8, 2005 to parents Vince and Jennifer Minnite of Pleasanton. He was only here for 12 days but affected many lives. He is loved and missed, especially by his mom, dad, brother and sister. He is survived by sister Sophia Minnite; brother Giovanni Minnite; grandparents Jack and Genell Minnite and Sam and Sally Bledsoe; four cousins; three aunts and four uncles.

Funeral services were held at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made to UCSF Children's Hospital, 505 Parnasus St., Box 2010, San Francisco 94143.
Correction

The obituary for Bette Ann Bostrom (Obituaries, Dec. 23, 2005) did not include the listing of all of her survivors. She was survived by her son Jeff Bostrom of Pleasanton; her partner of 20 years Richard McHugh of Brentwood and his five children and four grandchildren; and her brother Rick Winzinreid of Cayucos.
