Area woodworkers create Toys for Tots

Pleasanton woodworkers and others from the Tri-Valley gathered late last month to handcraft wooden toys for underprivileged children this holiday season.

Woodworking instructor Jim Vice gathered together a group of volunteers from the Pleasanton Senior Center Woodworking Club, as well as employees and customers of Dublin Woodcraft.

The group applied its skills to the construction of wooden cars, trucks, and baby doll cribs. The Senior Center Quilting Club will make doll blankets for the cribs.

Fire departments from Livermore/Pleasanton, Dublin and San Ramon gathered up the toys on Nov. 29 to donate to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots annual holiday toy drive. -by Carol Bogart
