Police department holds identity theft workshop Police department holds identity theft workshop (December 02, 2005)

Community members learn how to protect themselves in the digital age

The Pleasanton Police Department is hosting a presentation on identity theft from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the City Council Chambers. The presentation will be lead by Detective Daly Harnish who has received specialized training on identity theft and leads the department's investigations in high tech crimes and identity theft.

Topics include theft, common types of fraud, how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim and what to do if you become a victim of fraud or identity theft. The department recently held a workshop on identity theft this past summer and is putting it on again, recognizing the need for increasing the public's knowledge of this ever growing crime.

Space is limited to the first 100 residents and pre-registration is required. Contact Detective Harnish at 931-5141 or dharnish@ci.pleasanton.ca.us for more information or to register.
