Las Positas trustee resigns after 20 years of service
(May 27, 2005) Craig remembered for his business savvy
Gary Craig resigned from his post as Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Trustee after 20 years of service. His resignation is effective August 1.
Craig was first elected to the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Board of Trustees in 1985 representing Area 6, which includes Hayward and San Lorenzo. Prior to this position, he was elected to the San Lorenzo School Board at the age of 19.
He is resigning from the board to relocate out of the area.
During his service, Craig was known for his business knowledge that helped the district in its dealings with worker's compensation, health and welfare benefits and contracts.
The board is comprised of seven members elected by nine communities in the Bay Area. Carlo Vecchiarelli represents Pleasanton, as well as Dublin and Sunol. Board president Barbara Mertes also represents parts of Pleasanton and Livermore. The other board members are as follows: Alison Lewis, Hayward; Isobel Dvorsky, San Leandro; Arnulfo Cedillo, Union City and South Hayward; Donald L. "Dobie" Gelles, Castro Valley and portions of Oakland.
The trustees meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 5020 Franklin Dr., Pleasanton. Elections for the trustees are held on even number years.
