Burglary sighting gives way to carjacking chase

A woman reported three males attempting to break into her home on Inglewood Dr. at 10:40 a.m., May 17, police said. When the suspects saw the victim, they fled on foot, jumping the sound wall on Hopyard Road. A patrol unit arrived at the scene and approached the suspects, but two ran across Hopyard into the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot and the third ran north into the Business Park on Franklin Drive. The officer chased the third suspect on foot.

The two suspects in the Wells Fargo parking lot assaulted a man in his parked 2000 Honda Civic, pulling him out of the car and striking him three times in the face before fleeing in the car, police said. The owner of the car, a 19-year-old Pleasanton resident, was not seriously injured, according to police.

All three suspects escaped, police said. The suspects are described as three males between the ages of 18 to 25, one Asian, one black and one either Asian or Hispanic. The Asian and black males are described as 5'10" to 5'11" with a medium build and the third suspect is described as 5'8", 150 to 160 pounds with close cropped or shaved hair.

Call the Pleasanton Police Department with information regarding these two crimes at 931-5100. Callers may remain anonymous.
