(April 29, 2005) 1st Wednesday back on Main street next week
The Pleasanton Downtown Association will kick off its 2005 First Wednesday Street Party on May 4 next week with a Cinco de Mayo celebration. The event will be held on Main Street between St. John Street and Old Bernal Avenue from 5 to 9 p.m.
First Wednesday events are among Pleasanton's most popular downtown celebrations, attracting as many as 8,000 for an evening of shopping, browsing and friendship. Next Wednesday, the Cantera band returns, playing its hot, Latin rock and soul music.
Featured at the event will be a variety of foods found at many downtown restaurants. Livermore Valley wines and imported, domestic and local micro-brewed beers will be available for purchase in the beer and wine garden at the Round Table parking lot on Main Street.
After Wednesday, subsequent First Wednesday street parties will be held on June 1, July 6, August 3 and September 7.
Post Office adds hours
Starting tomorrow, April 30, the Pleasanton Main Post Office will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Civic Arts rescheduled
The May 2 meeting of the Civic Arts Commission has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the City Council Chambers.
Clark assumes new job
Clark assumes new job
(April 29, 2005) Brad Clark assumed the position of Assistant Secretary of State for Elections April 25. Secretary of State Bruce McPherson appointed Clark to the position April 13. Clark previously served as the Alameda County Registrar of Voters since 1993.
World-record attempt
The Alameda County Fair and Playing at Learning are organizing an attempt to break the world-record for construction of the largest Rube Goldberg Machine. Rube Goldberg Machines create the most complicated solutions to simple problems. Anyone can enter this contest that will take place July 4 weekend at the Alameda County Fair.
