Police nab Archstone shooting suspect

Pleasanton police have nabbed a suspect in the shooting last week of a 40-year-old woman outside her apartment in the Archstone housing complex on Owens Drive in the Hacienda Business Park.

Detective Daly T. Harnish, who is in charge of property, fraud and high tech crimes for the Pleasanton department, said Christopher W. Pace, 24, was arrested without incident at a Super 8 Motel where he was staying in Wendover, Nev., off Interstate 80 at the Utah state line. Also seized was a weapon suspected to have been used to shoot the victim, who remains unidentified and still in a local hospital recovering from multiple wounds.

Pace, who will be returned to Pleasanton, was taken into custody with the assistance of the Wendover Police Department, Harnish said. It is believe that Pace, who lives in Hayward, was a former co-worker with the woman and waited for her to leave her apartment and walk to her car in the apartment complex. He then allegedly shot her several times in the upper body with a 9mm pistol before fleeing the scene.
