Make a 'French Connection'
(April 01, 2005) Artists exhibit paintings from last summer's adventure
They went, they painted, they conquered. In a very gentile and artistic way of course. And now their results are about to be exhibited.
Last summer five artists, led by Pleasanton art teacher Charlotte Severin, made their way to southwestern France to paint on location. Accompanied by friends and spouses, they settled themselves with their painting materials out in the French countryside and captured scenes on canvas.
They painted castles and bastide towns walled against the 100 Years War; farmhouses harvesting hay and vegetables; vineyards; chateaux; and even prehistoric wall paintings. They also painted Cyrano's town of Bergerac.
The results will be on display in "The French Connection" from April 2-27 at the Livermore Library Gallery, with a free preview reception from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, April 2. The artists are Severin, Anne Emery, Jean Bell and Kathleen Elm from Pleasanton; Trish Adams from Ahwahnee; and Pauletter Pesavento from Lincoln.
