Museum seeks new director after Berry leaves
(February 25, 2005) Board wants innovative leader to build organization
Terry Berry, hired last August as the Museum On Main Street's executive director, has resigned to move overseas, and the museum is searching for her replacement.
Jim Allen, board chairman of the Amador-Livermore Valley Historical Society that operates the museum, said he has formed a search committee to find a new executive director who would have increased responsibilities to expand the museum's programs and membership.
"Foremost," Allen said, "will be someone who can work easily and productively with city, civic, business, education and nonprofit organizations to move the ALVHS and its museum into a leadership role in regional, historic preservation efforts."
Berry, who had undertaken that mission by helping the board to implement and develop a strategic growth plan for the organization, said she regretted leaving so soon. Her husband Tommie Berry, vice president of product development for Inovys Corp., has accepted a temporary transfer overseas in charge of global business development. The new position will keep both of them traveling "from port to port" in a regular basis as he markets Inovys' automatic test equipment to semiconductor businesses worldwide.
Allen said a new executive director would manage the museum, its staff and volunteer docents, have responsibility for exhibit development, collections management and archives, and develop new funding sources, including researching and writing requests for grants.
Those interested can contact Allen or Heather Rizzoli, the museum's part-time Education Director, at valleymuseum@sbcglobal.net or by calling 462-2766.
