St. Clare's Episcopal picks new rector
(July 30, 2004) The Rev. Ron Culmer has been named the new rector at St. Clare's Episcopal Church on Hopyard Road, succeeding the Rev. Maurice Turner, who retired after 17 years in the pulpit. Culmer will take the post Aug. 1.
Like Turner, Culmer was born in England, although he's hardly a native. At the time, his parents were living in the UK where his father was serving with the U.S. Air Force at Mildenhall.
After serving in the U.S. Army, himself, the Rev. Culmer obtained his Master of Divinity at The Church Divinity School of The Pacific in Berkeley. He and his wife Diana and their two sons, Jonathan, 16, and Joshua, 6, have moved to Pleasanton from Southern California where Culmer was rector at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Winnetka.
