Join a task force
The city of Pleasanton is looking for four residents to serve on two design task forces: one is for the proposed Firehouse Arts Center, the other is regarding a Master Plan for the inclusion of public art in the downtown area.
Both task forces will work with the Civic Arts and the Parks and Recreation commissions, city staff and a project consultant. The Arts Center task force will also work with an architect.
Interested residents should send a brief, one-page letter (no resumes) describing their interest in the relevant task force to Andy Jorgensen, P.O. Box 520, Pleasanton 94566; or e-mail ajorgensen@ci.pleasanton.ca.us.
Deadline for applications is 5 p.m., Friday, July 23. Interviews will be scheduled after that. Each task force has two openings.
Neighborhood night out
National Night Out, a crime and drug prevention event, is slated for 7-10 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3. Neighborhoods are encouraged to participate by holding block parties and cookouts.
Neighborhood event registration forms are available at the Pleasanton Police Department, 4833 Bernal Ave. Registrations must be returned by July 27.
If the event requires a street closure, the appropriate application must also be completed. In recognition of the annual neighborhood campaign, upon request, representatives from the Police Department may visit events.
