Toddler's death ruled accidental

The Alameda County Coroner ruled the May 1 death of an 18-month-old child accidental, reported Pleasanton police.

The child was found unresponsive about 6:10 a.m. at the family residence on Vineyard Avenue. Paramedics with the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to the emergency call and unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate her. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigating police detectives found that the toddler had rolled off her bed while sleeping and become wedged between several pillows in a narrow gap between the bed and wall, where she suffocated.

Police called the death a "tragic accident with no apparent negligence on the part of family members." Thief snatches camcorder and PJ's

A resident took a $600 loss when a crook swiped a camcorder and pajamas July 1 from a home near Stoneridge Drive.

The victim told police she left her resident about 9 a.m., locking the front door. When she returned about 10 p.m., she noticed that her camcorder was missing from on top of her dresser. She also noticed that her daughter's pajamas, which were on top of the victim's suitcase, were missing, police said.

She reported that nothing else was disturbed in the residence. Although the victim believed her sliding door was locked, because she had not opened it recently, the responding police officer noted that the lock did not securely fasten to the door frame. There were no signs of forced entry, police said. Waiting to be claimed
