Given the current events in Iraq, what can the United States do to improve its image? Asked at the Livermore Veterans Hospital

Dave Munday, Livermore
Army veteran
The photos should never have been released to begin with. Some private found a chance to make some money and get out of the service. He's not going to be safe anywhere he goes, some soldier loyal to the U.S. will get him. But those things don't compare to what's been done to us.

Dave Johnson, San Mateo
Marines veteran
Everything is tit for tat. But we're going in with righteous morals. We have to defend that position and punish those involved. Two wrongs don't make a right. We have to make it clear those folks don't represent us.

Chris Cope, Livermore
Navy veteran
Our big problem we had previously is we left too quick - this one we went in too quick. It's past time to get out. It's a civil war now - Sunnis against Shiites - so we don't belong there.

Becky Ring, Tracy
Navy veteran
We need tougher discipline for our troops. I think there need to be disciplinary measures enforced. What predisposed these people to think they could act that way?

Jack Hall, San Jose
Air Force veteran
The best thing to do is (get rid of) that guy in the White House. He's a lying rat. I listen to everything he says. I spend most of my time sitting at Starbucks and they agree with me. He's the worst president since Hoover.
