Mayor Tom Pico said that choosing these appointees is an enjoyable part of the job, but it's also difficult to choose from many well-qualified applicants.

New and re-appointed members are as follows: Civic Arts Commission: Tony Rivera, Holly Nelson Economic Vitality Committee: Robert Coackley, Judy Wheeler Ditter Human Services Commission: Johnny Ponton, David Lambert, Roberta Lewis Parks and Recreation Commission: Karen Ellgas, Kurt Kummer Planning Commission: Brian Arkin Youth Commission: Chris Arkin, Lauren Russman, Elisse LaBarre, Nimi Mastey, Jackie Bierre, Spencer Sussman

Members leaving are: Civic Arts Commission: Susan Miller, Joan Tenbrink Economic Vitality Committee: Jeff Leuchi Human Services Commission: Pat Lane, Ann Radford Parks and Recreation Commission: David Choy Youth Commission: Lindsey Bauer, Anna Currin, Sarah Rachmiel, Tyler Sussman

The city solicits applications from residents twice a year to fill vacancies on the commissions, committees and boards. The mayor makes the appointments, which are ratified by the City Council. -Dolores Fox Ciardelli
