Pleasanton resident Adam Marcus "Mike" Meier died March 10 at his home. He was 73.
The oldest son of 13 children, he was born in South Dakota to Frank and Claudia Meier on June 15, 1930, and was raised in Sacramento.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-52 and moved to Pleasanton in 1973, where he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his willingness to help people in need. He particularly enjoyed working in his rose garden and won many awards at the County Fair for his flowers.
He leaves his wife, Ruth Meier; his son, Gary Meier; three daughters, Tracy Meier-Moscoso, Natalie Martin and Nicole Meier; six sisters; two brothers; five grandchildren; and his friend Teresa Shannon.
Services were held at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Suite 100, Dublin 94568.
Mary Elizabeth Hawley
Mary Elizabeth Hawley, a 36-year Pleasanton resident, died March 10 at her home. She was 75.
Born in Berthal, N.D., on Feb. 10, 1929, she attended Patten College and was a secretary at Valley Christian School for 10 years. She was also a pianist at several churches.
She was devoted to a ministry of playing piano at church, which she continued to do until her eyesight failed and she could no longer read sheet music. She also enjoyed sewing.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, George Hawley; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Christy Hawley; three grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law.
Services were held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary and burial is at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward.

Tri-Valley native John M. Holmes, 41, died March 4.
A 1981 Foothill High School graduate, he was living in Indianapolis with his wife, Jennifer Pearson Holmes, and his daughter, Kendyl Holmes. John served in the U.S. Navy and had settled in Jacksonville, Fla., before relocating to Indianapolis. He was a supervisor at United Water Service in Indianapolis for seven years.
He was a dedicated and loving father who was loved and respected by his family and peers.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he leaves his parents, Judy and James Holmes of Pleasanton; a brother, William Holmes of Charleston, S.C.; and a sister, Kathy Holmes of Copperopolis.
Memorial services were held at Cross Pointe Christian Church in Indianapolis.

Thelma Jean Pineda
Thelma Jean Pineda died March 15 in Fremont. She was 70.
Born in Brandt, S.D., on March 22, 1933, she lived in Pleasanton for 16 years.
She enjoyed going to her exercise group and she loved pastel and oil painting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves three daughters, Cindy Eckert of San Jose, Sandra Allen of Pleasanton and Pam Laroche of Roseville; two sons, Donald Allen of Sacramento and Dale Allen of Maderia; two sisters; two brothers; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Vern Glen Allen in 1982 and Johnnie Pineda in 1996.
Funeral services were held at Callaghan Mortuary and burial is at Memory Gardens in Livermore.
Ella M. Silva
Ella M. Silva, a 14-year Pleasanton resident, died March 15. She was 96.
Born on Dec. 22, 1907, in San Jose, she was a homemaker for 65 years. Prior to Pleasanton, she lived in Hayward for many years.
Among her hobbies, she loved to crochet and bake for her family. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Silva of Manteca; three daughters, Audrey Giovanetti of Castro Valley, June Willis of Brentwood and Peggy Patton of Pleasanton; a sister; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Lawrence Silva, preceded her in death in 1990.
A Mass celebrating her life was held at St. Augustine Catholic Church and burial is at St. Augustine's Cemetery.

Rose G. de Lemos
Pleasanton resident Rose G. de Lemos died March 18 in Walnut Creek after a long illness. She was 75.
Born on July 6, 1928, in Castroville, she lived in Pleasanton for 10 years and El Cerrito for 25 years, where she raised her family.
She earned an associate's degree and was an administrative assistant at the U.S.D.A. in Albany for 40 years.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and enjoyed Bible study.
She leaves a daughter, Janet Davies of Pleasanton; two sons, John de Lemos of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., and Mark de Lemos of Tracy; one brother; four sisters; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, and she is buried at St. Augustine's Cemetery.

Martha Elizabeth Willson
Martha Elizabeth Willson, a 16-year Pleasanton resident, died March 1 at her home. She was 63.
The Hornell, N.Y., native was a caregiver for disabled individuals. She was also a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Danville and was active in Bible study.
She leaves her husband of 33 years, Larry Willson; a daughter, Jennifer Willson of Naples, Fla.; two sons, Christopher Willson of Redding and Steven Willson of Santa Barbara; and one brother.
Her sister, Kay Holzwarth, preceded her in death.
A memorial service was held at Community Presbyterian Church. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 883490, San Francisco 94188-3490.
Bernice 'Mary' Schrader
Bernice "Mary" Schrader, a Ridge View Commons resident, died March 18 at her home. She was 85.
Born in Wisconsin, where she was raised, on Sept. 24, 1918, she married Fredrick Schrader in 1938. She and her late husband lived in Spokane, Wash., where they raised their children. For the last five years, she lived in Pleasanton.
She was a homemaker and a caregiver to both her husband and daughter, prior to their deaths. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and writing to her pen pal through the Christian Foundation for the Children and Aging. She was also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and James Cooper of Livermore; a sister; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 42 years and daughter, Sharon Bosch, preceded her in death.
A Mass celebrating her life was held at St. Augustine Catholic Church and a reception followed in the parish hall. Inurnment is at St. Michael's Cemetery in Livermore.

William F. Patrick
William F. Patrick, a four-year Pleasanton resident, died March 23 in Walnut Creek. He was 74.
The Cleveland native was born on Dec. 31, 1929. A Stockton resident for 33 years, he was a military veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an accountant for 40 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Polish American Social Club and was a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dolores Patrick; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Richard Hudson of Pleasanton; a sister; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass celebrating his life was held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and burial is at San Joaquin Cemetery in Stockton.
