R. James Secor

R. James Secor, a three-year San Ramon resident and member of Lynnewood United Methodist Church in Pleasanton., died Feb. 25. He was 77.

Born in Wayland, N.Y., on April 2, 1926, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a sales manager for Nationwide Insurance Co. before retiring after 38 years of service.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in New York and the Masonic Lodge 985 F&AM Amherst, N.Y.

His hobbies included playing golf and bowling.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Anne Secor; a daughter, Gale Stimson of Pleasanton; and three grandchildren.

His son, Kirk Secor, preceded him in death.

Services were held at Lynnewood United Methodist Church and inurnment is at White Chapel Memorial Park in Amherst, N.Y.

Frances Marie Whitley, a 30-year Pleasanton resident, died at ValleyCare Medical Center on Feb. 26. She was 70.

A California native, she was born on Sept. 8, 1933, and was a grocery clerk for 25 years. She and her late husband, Edwin Whitley Sr., spent several years in Japan and Hawaii. They were married for 54 years.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Donna and Wayne Thomas, Elizabeth Whitley, Ed Whitley, all of Pleasanton, and daughter-in-law Debbie Whitley of Livermore; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Callaghan Mortuary and burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
