Party call

With the excitement of spring break building, the Pleasanton Police Department will be mobilizing its Teen Alcohol Party Suppression car within the next several weeks to increase awareness and enforce underage drinking laws. Officers assigned to this task force will focus on driving under the influence enforcement as well as responding to party, noise, loitering and curfew complaints and violations with the goal to reduce accidents and incidents of violence. Call Sgt. Brian Laurence, 931-5169, for questions about TAPS. Earthquake-ready thief

A safety-minded crook snatched two earthquake kits among other items in an overnight $440 theft March 3 that left a car with $1,200 in damages in the 3300 block of Smoketree Common Drive.

The victim reported to police that she parked and locked her 1998 Chrysler Sebring about 5 p.m. About 8:30 a.m. she discovered that someone had sliced a 6-inch opening in the vehicle's convertible top and entered the car, police said. The victim found that the contents of the glove box and center console had been ransacked and were strewn on the front passenger seat. Among the items stolen in the theft included a Leatherman knife, two earthquake kits and clothing. A pair of tennis shoes and a fire extinguisher were left in the vehicle. Moose on the loose

The manager of Abercrombie & Fitch at Stoneridge Shopping Center reported that men's shirts worth approximately $1,487 were taken from a front display counter March 5.

Store manager Lynn Jones, 24, reported the loss at 6:49 p.m. and told police that the shirts were taken between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., when an employee noticed them missing from the front circular counter. The missing shirts are sizes small, medium and large, although mostly medium, the manager reported, and each has a moose on the pocket. Each also had a security sensor, according to the police report.
