(March 05, 2004) Vera Jesse Cowling
Vera Jesse Cowling, a homemaker for 62 years, died Feb. 13 in Pleasanton. She was 82.
The six-year Pleasanton resident was born in London on Aug. 14, 1921. She also lived in Livermore.
She was a member of the British Army, Women's Auxiliary Army Service, and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livermore.
She enjoyed sewing and knitting as well as working on crossword puzzles and cooking.
Her husband of 54 years, Robert Cowling, survives her. She is also survived by a daughter, Laurel Smith of Colfax, Calif.; a son, Jeffrey Cowling of Brentwood; one sister; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and private burial services were held. Memorial gifts may be made to the California Association of Nursing, Home Reform, 1610 Bush St., San Francisco 94109, or to Alzheimer research.
Luetta 'Lulu' Boone
Former Pleasanton resident Luetta "Lulu" Boone died Feb. 21 at Stanford Medical Center. She was 55.
Born in Woodland, Calif., on Nov. 18, 1948, she was an Escalon resident for five years. Prior to that, she lived in Pleasanton for 17 years.
She worked in children's day care for 25 years. She enjoyed crafts and parties and will be remembered for her love of giving to others.
She leaves her son Kenneth Sandahl of Tracy; a daughter, Missy Silva of Livermore; three brothers; one sister; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary. Donations in her memory may be made to any preferred charity.
Olga Porobich Leach
Olga Porobich Leach, 49, died Feb. 18 in Santa Clara. A Livermore resident for seven years, she was born on Jan. 12, 1955, in Stockton.
She was a graduate of the University of the Pacific and Stanford University. Previously she was employed at Fairchild Camera and Intel corporations as a product process and reliability engineer, and more recently, at Domus in Pleasanton.
She was a member of I.E.E.E. Association, the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian Sisters.
She is survived by her husband Michael Leach; four aunts and one uncle; many cousins and her good friends Pauline Finnegan and Dale Leach. She will also be missed by her friends at Domus.
Her parents, Dano and Helen Porobich, preceded her in death.
Services were held at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson, Calif., and she was buried at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cemetery in Jackson.

Benjamin O. Cornish II
Sunol resident Benjamin O. Cornish II died Feb. 20 in Walnut Creek. He was 60.
Born in Alameda on Jan. 16, 1944, he lived in Sunol for 30 years. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army in the military police.
He was an auto mechanic for the Alameda County Fairgrounds before retiring 10 years ago.
He enjoyed working on his truck and spending time with his grandchildren, and he will be remembered for dedicating his life to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jan Cornish; two daughters, Sherri Winders and Lisa Cornish both of Sunol; and three grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary and a private burial service was held.
