(December 19, 2003) Gene Bown
Gene Bown, a former Pleasanton resident, died Dec. 4. He was 85, born in Idaho on March 3, 1918. His family moved to Portland when he was a child.
He and his wife of 63 years, Bernice, moved to Pleasanton more than 30 years ago following his retirement from Safeway, where he worked as an advertising executive. After he retired, he and Bernice played golf, traveled and enjoyed spending time with their family. His hobbies included painting and drawing. In 2003, he and his wife moved back to Portland to be closer to their family.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; his sister, Peggy Brandenburg; two sisters-in-law; two nieces and three nephews, all of Oregon.
A memorial service is planned at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, at the Aloha House, 1031 NE Penn, Bend, Ore.
George William Roth
George William Roth, an 18-year Pleasanton resident, died Dec. 8 at his home. He was 83. He was born in New York on April 12, 1920. His survivors include his wife of 57 years, Adele Roth; five children, Billy, Cathy, Noel, Jimmy and Lynnette; two sisters; two sisters-in-law; and six grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 7000 Village Parkway, Suite E, Dublin 94568.
