Amador plans 80th anniversary celebration
(September 27, 2002) Oldest school is now among newest
Amador Valley High School will hold its 80th anniversary celebration Friday, Oct. 25, and is calling on all alumni to come back for the festivities.
Colleen Botelho, who is coordinating the event, said the anniversary celebration is scheduled from 4:30-6 p.m., with special presentations to mark the school's history and achievements. Among these will be congratulations to Principal Bill Coupe, who will leave for Washington, D.C., Monday to accept the national blue ribbon of excellence from the Department of Education, one of 10 high schools among 30 schools in all from California to win the award this year. Also, Debbie Emerson, a health teacher and both Pleasanton's and Alameda County's Teacher of the Year, will be honored. She is the third consecutive Amador High teacher to win the local award, following Tom Hall and Eric Thiel in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
Amador alumni planning to attend the event should sign up with Ann Brady, the principal's secretary, at 461-6150.
