Pacific Repertory Theatre Fundraiser Gala
Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre will hold its annual PCRT Gala Fundraiser featuring wine, gourmet hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction, followed by vignettes from the upcoming 2015-16 season of professionally produced, Broadway musicals, from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Firehouse Arts Center. The 50 Years of Rotary is a joint celebration of the Rotary clubs in Pleasanton, including The Rotary Club of Pleasanton, The Rotary Club of Pleasanton North, Tri-Valley Evening Rotary Club, and Tri-Valley Rotary Clubs. StarStruck Presents 'Mary Poppins'
See the classic musical "Mary Poppins," the story of the "practically perfect" nanny Mary Poppins, who floats over London's chimneys into the lives of the Banks family. For California's foster kids, going back to school often means starting at a new school. To ease their first-day jitters, Sleep Train is hosting its School Supply Drive for Foster Kids now through Aug. 9 at any Sleep Train location.

'Fun With Science' Summer Series
Come explore the Discovery Center and take part in the "Fun With Science" program designed for 5th graders, a fun way to see and participate in science experiments that explain states of matter, air pressure, density, electricity, light and chemistry. Held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, June 10, 17; July 1, 15; Aug. 6, 12 at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Discovery Center. Registration required. Special Art Exhibits: William Rushton and Victoria Veedell
Enjoy two unique exhibits, the dense oils of William Rushton and the atmospheric landscapes of Victoria Veedell. Body Image Anonymous (BIA/BDD)
Body Image Anonymous is a support group for those living with Body Dysmorphic Disorder or other related body image disorders. Pleasanton Military Families Support Group
Formed in 2003 this group provides support and comfort to the Pleasanton families whose loved ones are deployed in the combat zones of Afghanistan and Iraq. The group has monthly meetings and other events such as "pack outs" of comfort and care items for deployed members of the armed forces. The group also sponsors the Yellow Streamer program on Main Street where streamers are displayed with the name, rank and branch of service of Pleasanton military personnel. The Dublin Senior Center Mini-Library is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday at the senior center, 7600 Amador Valley Blvd., Dublin. The library gladly accepts donations of like-new used books published in the last five years, puzzles, magazines within three months of distribution, and videotapes.
