An Evening with General Benjamin O. Davis Jr.
Feared by Nazis and loved by U.S. bomber crews in WWII, the Tuskegee Airmen were an all African American squadron of fighter pilots. Led by Commander Benjamin O. Davis Jr., the 99th squadron and 332nd Fighter group dominated the skies with their red tails. James Armstead will portray Commander Davis at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Museum on Main. Tri-Valley Retired Educators Scholarship 2016
Up to five scholarships, each worth $2,500.00, are offered by the Tri-Valley Retired Educators Scholarship Foundation offered to high-school graduating seniors and college/university students. Applicants must: be planning a career in education, be residents of the Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin or Sunol area, high school applicants must be seniors planning to attend a four-year college in fall, 2016, community college applicants must be qualified to transfer as juniors to a four-year institution in fall, 2016, 4-year college applicants must be sophomores who will continue as juniors in fall, 2016. Join Youth Track and Field Club
FTC track club is taking registrations for the fall season (Sept.-Dec.) and will begin practices on Sept. 8. FTC is a U.S. Track and Field (USATF) member club for kids 7-18 from any school. Pleasanton Military Families Support Group
Formed in 2003 this group provides support and comfort to the Pleasanton families whose loved ones are deployed in the combat zones of Afghanistan and Iraq. The group has monthly meetings and other events such as "pack outs" of comfort and care items for deployed members of the armed forces. The group also sponsors the Yellow Streamer program on Main Street where streamers are displayed with the name, rank and branch of service of Pleasanton military personnel.
