Donations Needed for American Cancer Society Discovery Shop
American Cancer Society Discovery Shop is requesting donations of necklaces, bracelets rings and watches as well as women's accessories for its event "Glitter and Glamour" April 17-19. Firefighter Homage and Mt. Diablo 2014 Vistas
Oil painter Vincent Liu exhibits a series of works depicting firefighters. Concurrently, watercolor artist Robin Purcell of Danville exhibits a collection of paintings featuring Mt. The group of 7 South Bay artists known as "The Abstract 7" joins sculptural artist Melissa Woodburn in an interesting new exhibition with a wide variety of media, open March 7-April 11 at the Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center. Sleep Train is hosting its Shoe Drive to ensure foster kids have properly fitting, comfortable shoes and to support foster parents, now through April 26. Support Groups

Pleasanton Military Families Support Group
Formed in 2003 this group provides support and comfort to the Pleasanton families whose loved ones are deployed in the combat zones of Afghanistan and Iraq. The group has monthly meetings and other events such as "pack outs" of comfort and care items for deployed members of the armed forces. The group also sponsors the Yellow Streamer program on Main Street where streamers are displayed with the name, rank and branch of service of Pleasanton military personnel.
